What you'll do

1

The Story Behind the Art of Iroqi Embroidery in Uzbekistan

Discover the colourful world of Iroqi embroidery, one of Uzbekistan’s distinctive traditional textile arts. Known for its intricate floral and geometric patterns, vibrant colours and delicate hand-stitched details, Iroqi has traditionally been used to decorate clothing, household textiles and ceremonial pieces. Its story is closely connected to Amir Temur and the cultural exchange of his time. When he brought skilled artisans from Iraq to Uzbekistan, they introduced their embroidery techniques to local craftsmen. Uzbek masters learned from them, adapted the techniques and passed them down through generations. Today, Iroqi remains a living craft practiced by local Uzbek artisans.

2

Create Your Own Iroqi Embroidery Masterpiece

Your experience begins with pickup from your accommodation and a comfortable transfer to the workshop. Meet your local host and artisan, discover their traditional workspace and learn about the materials, patterns and techniques behind this beautiful craft. Then it’s your turn to pick up the needle. With your artisan guiding you step by step, learn how the fabric is prepared, how traditional patterns are created and how the characteristic stitches bring the design to life. Choose your colours and create your own embroidered piece. No previous experience is needed. Instead of simply buying a souvenir, you’ll create something with your own hands and take home a unique handmade piece as a personal reminder of your time in Uzbekistan. After the workshop, enjoy private drop-off back at your accommodation.
