Explore Khiva’s Old City with a local guide, discover the story of Uzbek miniature art, then join a local master for a hands-on workshop and create your own traditional painting to take home.
Your experience begins with a comfortable hotel pick-up, followed by a short guided walk through the historic streets of Itchan Kala. Along the way, your guide will introduce you to the colors, patterns and artistic traditions that have shaped Khiva for centuries, while sharing the story of miniature painting and its connection to the Silk Road. Then visit a local miniature painting master and step inside the world of this intricate craft. See how traditional miniatures are created using fine brushes, detailed patterns and carefully layered colors, and discover the stories and symbolism behind the designs.
After the introduction, take a seat and create your own miniature painting under the guidance of the master. You’ll be shown the process step by step, so no previous painting experience is needed. This is more than just a workshop — it is a chance to meet a local artist, learn a traditional craft directly from the source and create something with your own hands in one of the most atmospheric cities of the Silk Road. At the end, take your handmade miniature painting home as a personal and unique souvenir from Khiva.
