Highlights

  • Explore the historic streets and monuments of Itchan Kala with a local guide
  • Discover the meaning behind Khiva’s famous blue and turquoise ceramic patterns
  • Meet a local artisan and learn traditional majolica painting techniques
  • Paint your own ceramic piece inspired by Khiva’s traditional designs
  • Take home a unique handmade souvenir created during your experience

What you'll do

1

Discover Khiva’s Old Town

Begin your experience with a guided walk through the historic old town of Itchan Kala. Explore narrow streets, impressive monuments, and beautifully decorated buildings while learning about Khiva’s history, culture, and the distinctive blue and turquoise tilework that has become one of the city’s most recognizable features.

2

Paint Your Own Majolica Tile

After the walk, visit a local artisan and take part in a hands-on majolica tile painting workshop. With guidance from the master, discover traditional Khiva ceramic patterns, colors, and techniques before painting your own tile. No previous artistic experience is needed, making the workshop suitable for beginners, families, and anyone interested in experiencing Uzbek culture in a creative and personal way. Once finished, your tile will be dried and fired by the master before being delivered to you when it is ready. This experience brings together Khiva’s architecture and living craft traditions, giving you both a deeper connection to the city and a unique handmade souvenir created by you.
