About this workshop

Begin your day in the atmospheric Lyab-i Hauz Ensemble, one of Bukhara’s most charming and historic corners, where the old pond, madrasahs, and shaded surroundings offer a perfect introduction to the city. From there, continue through the nearby old streets to see the Kukeldash Madrasah and the Nodir Devonbegi Ensemble, while your guide shares stories about Bukhara’s rich past, its role on the Silk Road, and the traditions that still shape the city today. The walk then continues into Bukhara’s historic trading domes, including Toki Sarrafon and Toki Telpakfurushon, where merchants once traded goods from across the region. This part of the tour is a wonderful chance to enjoy the atmosphere of the old city, explore its market streets, and discover the timeless character that makes Bukhara so special. Along the route, you will also visit the remarkable Magoki-Attori Mosque, one of the city’s oldest and most historically significant sites, before reaching the magnificent Poi-Kalyan Complex — the monumental heart of Bukhara. Here, you will admire one of the city’s most iconic ensembles, including the famous minaret, mosque, and madrasah that define Bukhara’s skyline. Around midday, there will be time for a relaxed lunch break in the old city, giving you the chance to rest, enjoy local cuisine, and take in the atmosphere at an unhurried pace. After lunch, continue toward the impressive Ark Fortress, once the seat of Bukhara’s rulers, and the nearby Bolo-Hauz Mosque, known for its elegant setting and beautiful wooden columns. The tour is designed at a comfortable, not rushed tempo, allowing time to enjoy the architecture, take photos, and fully experience the spirit of the old city. Over the course of around 8 hours, this walking tour offers a rich yet relaxed introduction to Bukhara, combining its most important landmarks, historic streets, trading heritage, and local atmosphere into one memorable day.
