Discover the Legacy of Uzbek Ceramics

0.5 hours

Step beyond Tashkent's main streets and discover a quieter, more creative side of the city in a traditional local mahalla. Your experience takes place in the home and workshop of one of Uzbekistan's most renowned ceramic families, whose generations of artisans have played a significant role in preserving and shaping the country's rich pottery heritage. Your visit begins with a guided tour of the family's private museum, where you'll explore an exceptional collection of historic ceramics, family archives, and masterpieces created across generations. As you walk through the exhibition, you'll learn the fascinating story of this iconic artisan family and their lasting contribution to Uzbek ceramics. You'll then be introduced to the beautiful world of Gijduvan-style ceramics—one of Uzbekistan's most celebrated pottery traditions. Discover the symbolism behind its rich colors, intricate floral motifs, and flowing patterns, and gain insight into the techniques that have been passed down through generations of master artisans.

Paint Your Own Gijduvan Ceramic

1 hour

After your introduction to this remarkable artistic tradition, it's time to create your own masterpiece. Guided by experienced artisans, you'll learn traditional painting techniques before decorating your own ceramic piece using authentic Gijduvan-inspired patterns and colors. The workshop is relaxed and beginner-friendly, making it suitable for all skill levels—no previous artistic experience is required. More than just a painting class, this is an opportunity to work inside a living artisan workshop, surrounded by generations of craftsmanship and creativity. Once your artwork is complete, it will be fired in the kiln and is typically ready for collection within one to two days. Delivery or alternative collection arrangements can be made if needed. You'll leave not only with a handmade souvenir, but also with a deeper appreciation of Uzbekistan's rich ceramic heritage and the living traditions that continue to thrive today.
