Highlights

  • Create your own traditional Uzbek knife blade from start to finish
  • Hands-on guidance from an expert Samarkand blacksmith
  • Learn about local history, culture, and blacksmithing techniques
  • Pick-up, accompaniment, and drop-off by a friendly local host
  • Take home your handmade knife blade as a unique Uzbek souvenir

What you'll do

1

Enter the World of Samarkand Blacksmithing

Step into the centuries-old tradition of Samarkand blacksmithing and create your very own traditional Uzbek knife blade to take home with you. You’ll be picked up from your hotel by a friendly local host, who will accompany you throughout the experience and share stories about Uzbek culture, history, and traditional craftsmanship.

2

Forge Your Own Traditional Uzbek Knife

At a local blacksmith’s workshop, you’ll meet an experienced craftsman and learn how traditional knife blades are made. With guidance at every stage, you’ll discover how to shape, forge, and finish the blade, while learning about the tools, materials, and techniques that have been passed down through generations. The experience is hands-on and suitable for beginners, with the blacksmith guiding you through each step and showing you how to handle the tools safely. Once your work is complete, you’ll have your finished knife blade to take home with you as a unique handmade souvenir from Uzbekistan. Please note that this experience produces the blade only, not a complete knife with a handle. Your local host will then accompany you back to your hotel, leaving you with a memorable connection to Samarkand’s living artisan heritage—and a blade you forged yourself.
